The prescience of Orwell

The Smell of FUBAR in the morning

I tell you what, it sure as fuck don't smell like victory...

Accountability and the lack thereof

Here is a good example of why i still don't feel terribly sorry for the mercs.

...how many different ways will she try to blame Clinton...

Hmm, Condo-LIE-za takes the stand tomorrow... hope the commission has their rubber boots on

Baghdad Bob Syndrome?

The Beeb says our people were pretty much pushed out of most of the places where the fighting flared up this week, but the domestic media is parroting most of the pollyanna bullshit coming from Rummy and L. Paul "Here 'cause i'm a republican apparatchik, not because i'm a skilled diplomat" Bremer. Even the British delegation is starting to realize that this whole mess is some sort of god-awful re-election ploy.

Hearts and Minds, redux

I have to agree with Hesiod, it would be mostly wrong to second-guess the soldiers as it relates to the strike on the Mosque, so i won't, but between Bremer and Bush, the leadership and the policies driving the situation are pretty goddamn ripe for examination and second guessing, and disgust

and ridicule

and every ounce of derision that anyone with half an ounce of either the knowledge of Iraqi history in the 20th century and a smattering of common goddamn sense can pour out.

I say, when Chimpy finally gets put out to pasture in Crawford Texas, we should impose some sort of specific "Dracula Clause" against the Bush family barring any more members of them from holding public office higher than dog-catcher, also, we should deluge his house/ranch/whatever with copies of that Incubus song "Megalomaniac" as a fitting fare-thee-well
Funny and scarily, sadly true at the same time
...The bottom half of This Bit from THE ONION sounds exactly like the Republican/warflogger/kool-aid drinker response to all those godawful bouts of "I told you so" that so many of us have been saying since Andrew "we'll sell a war in Iraq just like we were automakers rolling out a new vehicle" Card broke the news that Iraq was the next target in Whistle-Ass's "War on Terra"
