A Black Feather, A poison pen... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- life imitates a bad bon-jovi song (oh wait, they're all bad) So last night my neice decided to run away from home. She included the requisite note. Basically shifting guilt back at her mom for grounding her over the $460.00 phone billshe racked up on a crapload of long distance calls. I thought my December phone-bill was bad at $259.oo back when i was rattling various cages trying to see if there was stil any honor among theives, but $460.00, i mean, dAAAAAAmn. Called 911 when we realized she was missing, (little sneak waite for one of those moments when shne figured she could slip out unnoticed - figure she had been gone for about an hour and a half when wse called) they referred us to the police non-emergency line. Cops were very non-chalant, aggravatingly so. used my phone, my brother's cel, and their house phone to call all of her friends and then started making a circuit of the neighborhood. My sister-in-law stayed by the phones, i madea walking scan of the neghborhood and my brother drove around to look for her. Normally i consider her a smart kid, but last night was possibly one o fthe worst exercises in planning i have ever seen. Other than a small handful of cash left over from her birthday, she took nothing with her. She also apparently didn't really have any idea where she was going because after about a half-hour out in the van on the streets, my brother found her and brought her back just about five minutes after the missing-persons guy from the PD finally called us.
