A Black Feather, A poison pen...

and the damage done

I follow my curiousity. Simple as that.

Bit of good news around the work front, The Dreaded OpsAdmin is seemingly gone.

Two years of micro-managing and morale-killing brought to an end. Strange that it took budget issues to do what such lengthy tenure had prevented for so long even with a reputation for being difficult and counter-productive.

I made the joke to a friend of mine among the cubicles that it amounted to waiting until the patient was dead to remove the tumor.

The worst part is that no one took the hint when a third of the office staff bolted for the door in a six month period following her arrival.

I don't tell other people in my office how to do their jobs, even if i'm the one who trained them. If they know what to do and how to do it, i leave them to the task. If the OpsAdmin had enough sense, she would have known not to interfere so heavily with the way things are/were done. Things that were de rigeur parts of procedure that people had been able to do on their own suddenly had to travel through something resembling a chain of command. The level to which everyone in the office has had some of their professional autonomy stripped away has killed a lot of the motivation in the office. That it was allowed to happen reflected a lack of confidence in our collective capabilities on the part of office and agency management
